This table arrived in parts. The top had seperated in various places and the frame was wobbly. The various parts of the top were joned back together and the frame consolidated and made stable again. The old painted surface was removed and it was sympathetically restored providing a subltle aged appearance.
The table had once been extending but the mechanism removed and the underside of the table extensively reinforced. The top had been refinished using a pigmented emulsion and then polishing over. I would assume this was to produce a dark mahogany effect with minimal effort but it hid the grain and figuring of the timber. […]
This was recovered from a garage after lying in disuse for some time. The table was dirty and some of the sections were detached where the glue had failed. The gaps were consolidated and the table cleaned. The polish was then improved upon before being finally wax polished.
This walnut card table required restoration and part of this necessitated the replacement of the old and damaged baize. I only use high quality baize and this can be obtained in a wide selection of colours.
This desk had an old finish on it that was very dark, worn and perished. This was stripped off and the wood prepared or refinishing. It was then refinished so that the wood had a more natural and aged look.
